Kia Issues Recall for Potential Engine Damage From Defective Piston Rings

Kia will have dealers install piston-ring noise sensing systems.

Kia has issued a recall for over 137,000 vehicles due to defective piston rings that could lead to engine damage, according to Top Class Actions.

Covered in the recall are certain 2021-2023 Kia Seltos produced between July 2, 2020, and July 1, 2022, and certain 2021-2023 Kia Soul vehicles produced between July 2, 2020, and April 19, 2022.

To remedy the issue, Kia will have dealers inspect and replace engines in affected vehicles, as well as install piston-ring noise sensing systems.
