New Take 5 Oil Change Seeks Approval in Johnston, Rhode Island
A new Take 5 Oil Change location is looking to set up shop in Johnston, Rhode Island, reports Johnston Sun Rise.
Quick Lube of Carolina Atwood, LLC, is looking to open a Take 5 location at 1402 Atwood Avenue, across the street from the Atwood Grill at the corner of Carding Lane. Currently, the property is a car dealership.
During the local Zoning Board’s March 27 meeting, Quick Lube was seeking a special use permit to allow for general automobile maintenance in the new facility, as well as an exception to a town ordinance limiting businesses to a single exterior wall sign.
As part of the project, the current structure will be demolished and replaced with a smaller building. Additionally, following in-depth discussions surrounding potential traffic concerns and curb cuts on Atwood Avenue and Carding Lane, a large portion of the property’s paved lot will be removed to allow for more green space and tree plantings. This would help mitigate flooding in the area.
With these accommodations, the board recommended approval of the project, which garnered positive comments from Thomas Deller, director of development and public services. If the business is able to gain additional approvals, it expects to begin construction on the new shop within the next six to nine months.
