Brakes Plus will be opening a second location in McKinney, Texas, according to Community Impact.
With over 160 locations across six states, the brand offers oil changes in addition to brake inspections and replacements, tire rotations, and battery replacements.
Plans were unveiled during a McKinney City Council meeting on Oct. 15, in which council members approved a specific use permit for the business in a 5-1 vote.
The permit in question was to allow for minor vehicle repair uses. Director of Planning Jennifer Arnold said both city staff and the McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the permit, due to the property being adjacent to other commercial uses.
The one council member who voted against, Justin Beller, noted that the shop would also be adjacent to a restaurant’s outdoor patio, potentially impacting its customers with noise.
The new store would be located on the west side of Lake Forest Drive, south of University Drive. It would be the second Brakes Plus in McKinney, with one already operating around 10 minutes away on University Drive, near US 75.
