Vehicle Inspections Unavailable in Massachusetts After Global Tech Outage
The recent global IT outage resulted in Massachusetts vehicle inspection stations not being able to perform inspections this past weekend, reports WWLP-22News.
First occurring on Friday, the outage impacted millions of computers across the world and stretched across industries including retailers, banks, and airlines.
On Saturday, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) stated that some of its technology had been impacted by the outage. As a result, vehicle inspections were unable to be performed for the entire day.
The state’s Registry of Motor Vehicles has been working with its vendor, OPUS, and inspection sites to help resolve any problems. As of yesterday, CBS News reported that the issue is still preventing inspections from being performed.
