California Midas Holds Annual School Supplies Giveaway for Families

July 22, 2024
With the help of a celebrity guest, over 200 backpacks stuffed with school supplies were donated to local families.

A Midas in Carmichael, California, held its third annual backpack and school supplies giveaway to local families, reports The Carmichael Times.

This year saw over 200 backpacks donated to kids, each one stuffed with pencils, pens, erasers, calculators, and note pads.

Now being an annual tradition for Carmichael Midas, parents and their kids were already forming a line outside an hour before the event was set to begin.

Attendees were treated to donuts and soda from store owner Kurt Swanson, as 2022 Golden Gloves champion Lorenzo Powell helped stuff backpacks and visited with fans. Having a longtime friendship with the Swanson family, Powell can be seen participating in every event the shop holds.

“We feel great supporting the community in this way,” said Swanson. “School supplies are a major expense for families.”
