Midas Donates Vehicle to Single Father Veteran in Washington

After an accident last year that injured Joe Llamas, he hasn't had reliable transportation for him or his six-year-old daughter.

A Midas shop in Bremerton, Washington helped a struggling father with the donation of a refurbished vehicle, reports Kitsap Daily News.

Joe Llamas is a full-time student, a veteran, and the single father of a six-year-old girl. After an accident last year, Llamas fractured his vertebrae, was unable to work, and left with an unreliable vehicle.

Since then, he’s had to use a motorcycle to get himself around–but is unable to take his young daughter where she needs to go.

On July 10, Llamas was presented with a 2007 Acura TL, complete with a big red bow, by Bremerton Midas co-owners Brian Worthingtonbrady and Angela Brown, as well as the staff who helped refurbish the vehicle.

The donation was part of Project Spark: an initiative that Midas franchises across North America participate in to provide transportation to those in need. With a vehicle donated by 1-800 Charity Cars and parts provided by NAPA, the Midas store brought the vehicle back to working order at no cost to Llamas.

“I’ve been trying to navigate life with several constraints,” said Llamas. “This new car will give me a better ability to care for my daughter and start taking my life back.”
