Nissan to Use Electric Trucks to Deliver New Vehicles

March 1, 2023
Nissan has announced a trial run with electric semi-trucks provided by Nikola and Kenworth.

March 1, 2023–Nissan has announced that it is beginning a trial run of using electric heavy-duty trucks to deliver new vehicles, according to Electrek.

The trucks will be provided by Nikola and Kenworth. They will “each provide an electric truck to pull traditional car haulers.” Nikola’s Tre BEV semi-truck is “zero-emission class 8” and withholds a “330-mile max range and 645 continuous HP.”

The announcement is a significant step towards Nissan’s plans to “achieve carbon neutrality across its operations by 2050.” The company hopes to “build on the lessons it learns” following the trial run.

“Exploring the use of BEV trucks for new vehicle delivery is an important milestone in our journey toward carbon neutrality throughout our business,” said Nissan VP of Supply Chain Management Chris Styles.

The trucks’ first deliveries will be delivering the 2023 Ariya electric crossover to Downey Nissan in California.
