American Cancer Society Road To Recovery Volunteer Drivers to Receive Free Oil Changes
The American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery drivers will receive free oil changes at participating Valvoline Instant Oil Change (VIOC) stores this fall as part of a program to support the fight for a world without cancer. ‘Road’ drivers are volunteers who drive their own car on their own time to take cancer patients to treatment and back home in San Diego County and beyond.
“The volunteers will be thrilled with the special recognition from VIOC for their time in taking cancer patients to treatment,” said Demy West, Program Manager for Mission Delivery in San Diego County. “Many of our volunteers have driven hundreds of times, and this thank you is a wonderful surprise for their selfless actions over many months and years.”
In addition, VIOC is committed to a special fundraising project in San Diego, Inland Empire, Orange County, and LA County that will raise at least $10,000 for the cause. Every time a customer uses a special coupon at a participating VIOC location, the company will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society.
“We are excited at the opportunity to build a partnership with American Cancer Society. They are a wonderful organization who are on the front lines fighting cancer both locally and nationally,” says William Smelley, Director of Marketing at the VIOC franchisee.
“Funds raised through the VIOC campaign will support our mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer,” said Jane Barnes, Senior Manager in Corporate Relations. “Specifically, the donation will support our free patient services programs, like Road to Recovery, our world renown cancer research program, key education outreach to lay people and health programs, and our patient advocacy initiatives.”
