Take 5 Oil Change Partners With El Paso Police for Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention

Currently, Texas ranks second in the nation for catalytic converter thefts.

A Take 5 Oil Change in El Paso, Texas, recently partnered with the local police department to offer free catalytic converter theft prevention services to locals, reports KFOX-TV.

The El Paso Police Department, in collaboration with the Take 5 at 915 Sunland Park Dr., provided free Vehicle Identification Number etching on catalytic converters.

The event was organized by the Auto Theft Task Force, Westside Regional Command’s community services, and EPPD Police Cadets, following 735 incidents related to catalytic converter theft reported in the past three years. Currently, Texas ranks second in the nation for catalytic converter thefts.

The campaign took place at Take 5’s store on April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon, with the etching service free for all.
