Volkswagen Tiguans Experience Excessive Oil Consumption, Alleges Class Action

A class action lawsuit recently filed has accused Volkswagen of selling vehicles with excessive oil consumption, according to Top Class Actions.

Filed on Dec. 16 in a New Jersey federal court by plantiffs Stacy Zeiders and Calvin Westlund, the suit alleges that certain 2022-2023 Tiguan vehicles contain defective engines that require more service than what is outlined in Volkswagen’s maintenance schedule.

“Plaintiff Zeiders relies on her vehicle for her profession and is concerned that the Oil Consumption Defect could impact the safety of the vehicle, cause her to end up stranded somewhere, or that she will have to rely on her own intuition to check the Vehicle’s oil level because the oil level warning light has failed to warn Plaintiff of low oil levels in the past,” read the lawsuit.

The suit has also argued that Volkswagen has not taken any action to address consumer complaints. Zeiders claimed she went to several dealerships in the states of Pennsylvania and North Carolina to voice concerns over oil levels and engine sputtering, with the problem not being resolved.
