Kia Recalls Hybrid Vehicle for Fuel Leak Defect

Dec. 26, 2024
The automaker discovered a defect during frontal crash tests that could lead to a fuel leak.

Kia has discovered a defect with one of its vehicles that can cause a fuel leak, prompting a recall, according to Car Complaints.

The recall applies to the 2025 Sorento PHEV, with 1,400 in total being affected.

While performing frontal crash tests on a 2026 Sorento, the automaker found that in vehicles with the rack-mounted motor driven power steering equipped, the subframe was coming out of place.

The subframe would then cause the steering rack to come into contact with the fuel line, damaging it and creating a fuel leak.

Letters will be mailed to owners beginning Jan. 10, 2025. Dealers have been instructed to install protective covers around the fuel line to resolve the issue.
