Volkswagen Recalls 48k Jettas Over Engines Stalling

Sept. 18, 2023
Volkswagen has issued a recall for around 48,000 Jettas due to the engine stalling while the vehicle is in motion.

Volkswagen has issued a recall for around 48,000 Jettas due to the engine stalling while the vehicle is in motion, Kelley Blue Book reports.

The recall applies to 2019 and 2020 model year Jettas. According to Volkswagen, the problem has to do with a polyfuse failing, especially when the vehicle is in high-temperature environments.

The company has received 2,654 warranty claims that are possibly related to the recall.

Drivers may see a warning in the instrument cluster that reads “Ignition switch off, safely stop the vehicle,” before receiving a second message reading “Starter system faulty, please service vehicle.”

The automaker is not yet sure what is causing the problem but believes a solution can be found without knowing what the issue stems from. As of right now, dealers will replace the ignition system as a remedy.
