A recall has been announced for “almost 450,000” Honda and Acura vehicles due to an issue with the seat belts not latching properly.

A recall has been announced for “almost 450,000” Honda and Acura vehicles due to an issue with the seat belts not latching properly, according to Kelley Blue Book.

The recall affects 2017-2020 Honda CR-Vs, 2018-2019 Honda Accords, 2018-2019 Honda Accord Hybrids, 2018-2020 Honda Odysseys, 2019-2020 Acura RDXs, and 2019 Honda Insights.

The company said that “the seat belt buckle channel for the driver and front passenger seat belts were manufactured out of specification,” causing an “interference between the buckle channel and the release button.”

Though the seat buckle may not initially fail to operate correctly, the interference can cause “friction between the parts” which results in failure to latch over time.

The company has not reported any deaths or injuries caused by the issue. Dealers will “replace both front seat belt buckle release buttons” free of charge to drivers.
