August 16, 2021—Go Safe Tire, a tire shop in Lilburn, Georgia, has received approval to begin offering oil changes.
The shop, which up until this point exclusively provided tire and brake services, needed an exemption from the city council to offer broader "auto-truck services" such as oil changes since those were not included in the zoning permit for the property, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
According to the city, most fluid change services require a flood drain connection to a sewer line, but oil changes do not. Go Safe Tire received the approval under the conditions that no vehicle washing services were to be provided and any future floor drains that might be added must be connected to municipal sewer lines according to county code.
