Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut is honoring Valvoline Instant Oil Change, one of its partners in its Community Employment Services Department, as Employer of the Year for its commitment to providing career opportunities as well as training and career development for employees.
When Valvoline Instant Oil Change began its partnership with Goodwill in 2015, it started with accepting summer internships, but quickly began hiring career-track employees. As the number of Goodwill trainees employed there increased, the management was noted for helping these new arrivals adjust to their new environment and responsibilities whenever possible. Valvoline Instant Oil Change’s staff is also being recognized for its willingness to take on prior offenders who face greater than average challenges than those without criminal records.
Valvoline Instant Oil Change’s commitment is reflected in its immensely successful track record. The five month relationship has seen interns and employees hired from all five of Goodwill’s employment programs. These numbers are even more impressive when the company is compared to the larger chains partnered with Goodwill.
“Valvoline Instant Oil Change’s unparalleled commitment to creating a welcoming and constructive environment for Goodwill program participants has set it apart from Goodwill’s other partners,” said Goodwill’s Community Employment Liaison, Tom Megna.
