Sept. 4, 2019—Though Lenny Saucier's name had showed up in the pages of NOLN before his first column, he was psyched to submit the first edition of "Train Like Your Wallet Depends On It."
"Wow, I get to write for the National Oil Lube and News! ," he wrote in the intro to that inaugural column.
And he has continued to do so each month for the magazine. But this summer, a medical issue took precedence over his work life. Doctors found an ampulary growth in one of his bile ducts, and there was a high concern for cancer. Still, Saucier kept submitting columns, and in September he began his column by writing about his medical evaluation.
A GoFundMe page launched for Saucier in hopes of raising enough for a downpayment on a surgery that cost nearly $40,000. They set a goal of $10,000 but ended up raising more than $18,000 amid an outpouring of support for the industry training expert.
The surgery in early August was a success, according to the GoFundMe page, though some post-operation procedures were needed. He reported to NOLN on Tuesday that he's at home and working his way back to health.
Please join NOLN in wishing Saucier a speedy recovery. To steal a phrase from his own writings: Be great!
