AAA: More Drivers Need to Stay on Top of Preventative Automotive Maintenance

April 2, 2025
With April being Car Care Month, AAA is bringing attention to the need for more drivers to stay on top of maintenance after receiving over 27 million emergency roadside calls last year.

After having received over 27 million emergency roadside service calls in 2024, AAA is bringing attention to the need for more drivers to stay on top of maintenance in a recent press release.

Of those emergency calls, roughly 13 million required towing, and approximately 7 million had experienced battery issues, representing roughly 74% of total calls received and surpassing calls received for flat tires and lockouts.

Additionally, it’s estimated that 215,000 service calls were received for issues with electric vehicles, making up 0.8% of total roadside service events.

With April being Car Care Month, AAA is bringing attention to the need for more drivers to stay on top of preventative maintenance.

“Car care month is a great reminder to keep up with vehicle maintenance,” said Cliff Ruud, managing director of Automotive for AAA. “We get a lot of calls about towing and battery problems that could have been avoided had these vehicles been maintained…To avoid costly, inconvenient, and perhaps unsafe breakdowns, we really encourage drivers to stay on top of their car’s health.”
