Take 5 Oil Change Opens Second Location in Growing South Carolina Town

Nov. 21, 2024
This second Take 5 would be the latest development in the rapidly expanding Westside and Northside of Aiken, South Carolina.

A new Take 5 Oil Change will be one of many businesses joining a quickly growing part of Aiken, South Carolina, reports Aiken Standard.

Plans submitted by the developer outline a 960-square-foot facility located at 111 Jefferson Davis Highway.

Requests have been made to annex and zone the property, which will need to be approved by the Aiken City Council—though the Aiken Planning Commission has already recommended approval.

This would be the latest development in a rapidly expanding area of Aiken, with apartment complexes, a new church, a Mavis Tire Service center, and a restaurant to open nearby soon.

While most of Aiken’s development has been seen on its Southside—where another Take 5 Oil Change is already located—its Westside and Northside have been seeing more developments come in.

There are a few reasons for this, the first of which being an influx of people moving into the city, with Aiken’s residents growing by 8,324 between 2022 and 2023. On top of that, the lower housing costs on the Westside and Northside have prompted more activity in these areas.

In addition, Aiken’s Westside is in proximity to major thoroughfares and routes like Interstate 20 and I-20's Exit 11. The planned Take 5’s location on Jefferson Davis Highway puts it close to downtown Augusta, Georgia.

“The infrastructure's there. I thank the city for putting it in,” said Aiken City Councilwoman Lessie Price. “The city has invested more in infrastructure on the Northside and I have to give kudos to Sen. [Lindsey] Graham for sending some money to invest.”
