In addition to offering hands-on training, the program also partners with local businesses to provide students with internships.

The Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation has granted Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair accreditation to the Career and Technology Academy of Prince Frederick, Maryland, reports the Southern Maryland Chronicle.

The Automotive Services Training Program is a two-year course that is offered to all Calvert County Public School students from their junior year onward.

In addition to offering hands-on training in skills including engine performance, brake systems, and electrical systems, the program also partners with local businesses to provide students with internships.

Last year saw 100% of students who completed the program earn one or more ASE credentials, contributing to the state’s Blueprint for Maryland’s Future legislation that aims to provide students with industry credentials.

With accreditation from ASE in Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair, CTA’s curriculum, facilities, and equipment have all proven to meet ASE standards for training.

“The ASE Education Foundation ensures that students receive relevant training that prepares them for a career in the automotive industry,” said CTA instructor Ben Lane. “A school that meets the rigorous requirements that ASE has set forth has demonstrated a dedication to meeting the needs of the students for this industry. We are proud to be able to support the needs of both our students and our local community.”
