Volvo Issues Recall for Unstable Brake Pedals in 2020 Model Year Vehicles

The problem has led to two bolts being looser than they should be in many brake pedals.

Volvo has issued a recall for 2020 model year vehicles over unstable brake pedals, according to Kelley Blue Book.

The recall impacts a total of 291 vehicles across several 2020 models: the S60, V60, S90, XC60, and XC90.

According to the automaker, the assembly station used for building brake pedals had experienced a misalignment for around five months back in 2019, leading to two bolts being looser than they should be in many pedals.

A loose connection may lead to noise issues and an unstable pedal. In the event that the pushrod becomes loose, the gap created between the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal as a result will cause bad ergonomics as well.

To remedy the problem, dealers have been instructed to tighten the bolts in the brake pedals.
