Drivers of certain Subaru vehicles may be eligible for reimbursement following a settlement reached on a lawsuit alleging some vehicles were equipped with faulty fuel pumps, according to Top Class Actions.
The lawsuit accused Subaru of selling vehicles built with defective Denso fuel pumps, leading to low pressure, the engine stalling or sputtering, or an engine shutdown.
With the settlement, current and former owners and lessees of certain 2018-2020 Subaru Impreza, Outback, Legacy, Forester, Ascent, BRZ, and WRX vehicles and certain 2017-2020 Subaru Impreza, Outback, Legacy, Forester, Ascent, Crosstrek, BRZ, and WRX vehicles may be eligible for benefits from the company.
Vehicle owners impacted by the issue may receive an extended replacement parts limited warranty for low-pressure fuel pump replacements, access to a customer support program for any issues with original equipment low-pressure fuel pumps, a loaner/towing program for vehicles undergoing fuel pump repairs, and reimbursement of certain out-of-pocket expenses.
Today is the exclusion and objection deadline for the settlement, with a final approval hearing scheduled for Nov. 18.
In order to receive compensation from Subaru, affected drivers must submit a claim within 90 days of the court’s final approval order. As of now, that deadline is expected to be Feb. 16, 2025. Drivers are cautioned to ensure they qualify before submitting a claim.
