A new Jiffy Lube is being planned for Gloversville, New York, The Leader-Herald reports.
Formerly a local restaurant called Travers Diner, the building has been vacant for the past five years and is now being slated for Fulton County’s first Jiffy Lube location. Of the franchise’s 2,000-plus locations, the closest one is almost an hour away in Colonie, New York.
According to plans first presented to the city Planning Board last month, the building will be demolished and a new facility for Jiffy Lube will be constructed in its place. Officials have not voiced any concerns with the plans.
The property was sold to Premium Velocity Auto LLC by Hoffman Development Corporation, which runs a car wash chain and, until last year, operated most Jiffy Lube locations in the region.
The application for the new location could be approved sometime next month, with construction estimated to begin in May and taking between six to eight months. Due to how close the store will be to a state highway, it will also require validation from the Fulton County Planning Department, the State Department of Environmental Conservation, and the State Department of Transportation.
