Dec. 20, 2021—For a 15th consecutive year, Shell has been named the leading lubricant supplier worldwide in the consumer, commercial and industrial sectors.
According to a news release from the company, the accolade comes from Kline & Company's 2021 global lubricant market analysis. The report uses 2020 as a base year and covers "all leading lubricant consuming country markets, market segments, product types and formulations."
Over the past year, Shell sold around 4,100 kilotons, or about 4.6 billion liters, of finished lubricants. Global sales were split almost evenly between all three segments, with consumer automotive accounting for 34 percent of sales, commercial automotive accounting for 30 percent and industrial accounting for 36 percent.
