July 26, 2022—Bridgestone Retail Operations is supporting local Boys & Girls Clubs.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Bridgestone representatives recently visited the Boys & Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania to award one of 20 checks for $20,000 as a celebration of Bridgestone's Driving Great Futures initiative.
Over the course of the last seven years, this initiative has raised $20 million for the clubs.
The $20,000 check will help support the Western Pennsylvania clubs with things such as transportation and technology. In addition to the funds, Bridgestone also recently visited the Shadyside clubhouse, which acts as a hub for the Boys & Girls Clubs STEM program.
During the visit, Bridgestone helped conduct a clinic with three cars and a group of students. Bridgestone showed the students under-the-hood skills that included checking a car's oil, coolant levels, and transmission fluid. They also demonstrated how to fill windshield wiper fluid, how to use turn signals, how to use the car horn, and how to check and change a tire.
This demonstration was for students enrolled in the Learn and Earn program with the clubs.
“One of our objectives is to introduce our youth to careers that need people to fill open spots in high-demand careers that offer opportunities for advancement and the ability to make a living wage,” said said Jessi Marsh, BGCWP vice president for advancement, to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
