Chapel Hill Tire is spreading holiday cheer with their 12 Days of Christmas car care giveaway of $1,000 to 12 nominated winners.
Chapel Hill Tire owner Marc Pons said the company asked for nominations in November of deserving folks who could use a Christmas miracle and had over 300 nominations come in.
“It was very, very hard to narrow it down to 12, but we found 12 deserving recipients, who we’re giving away $1,000 worth of car care,” said Pons.
Each day Chapel Hill Tire announces the winner on their Facebook page singing the 12 Days of Christmas jingle.
“There’s a lot of need out there in the community, and we know how important a car is for somebody to have a path of sustainability for themselves. The stories were really, really powerful,” Pons said. “But I’ve got to tell you the gift is that it’s lifted the spirits of everybody in Chapel Hill Tire. The employees are so engaged and so proud to be able to help and give back in this way.
“It’s really been wonderful.”
One Christmas giveaway winner, Edgar Oliveri, was nominated by his pastor Kevin Baker from Grace Church in Chapel Hill and says it’s a wonderful blessing.
“I didn’t know what to do, I thought I was going to junk it,” said Oliveri. “They did power steering; they did the shocks, tires; they did the motor mounts; I had a sensor that was bad.”
Executive director of the Compass Center for Women and Families Cordelia Heaney nominated the center’s client Jessie Davis who won on day four. Heaney says having a client from the compass center win has brought holiday cheer to the whole office.
“We nominated her because we really want to try to make sure that our clients have everything they need on their path to self-sufficiency,” said Heaney. “This kind of support is life-changing. I mean, it enables a client to be able to go to the hospital, go to court, go to job interviews, take their kids to school. With so many parts of our county not being easily accessible to public transportation and having a reliable car is really often the difference between whether or not they can make the steps that they need to take or not.”
The car care center will continue to announce a new winner through Friday, December 22.
