Oct.16, 2019—Dyson will end development for an electric vehicle, the company announced this week.
In an internal email, founder James Dyson told workers that while the project had been working toward a "fantastic car," they couldn't find a buyer and didn't see a way to make the project financially viable, reports Motor Authority.
Dyson had plans for three models and even opened a second campus to support the project.
In a letter posted to the company's website, Dyson wrote that they will be working on technologies that support electric vehicles, such as batteries and manufacturing processes.
"We will also concentrate on the formidable task of manufacturing solid state batteries and other fundamental technologies which we have identified: sensing technologies, vision systems, robotics, machine learning, and AI offer us significant opportunities which we must grab with both hands," he wrote.
