Kost Tire & Service Location Holds Oil Change Fundraiser for Injured Officer
Kost Tire & Auto Service in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is rallying support for the family of a critically injured police officer, FOX56 WOLF-TV reports.
Detective Kyle Gilmartin has led a 9-year career with the Scranton Police Department, and currently serves in the Major Crimes Unit and the Auto Theft Task Force, according to earlier reporting from FOX56.
On Jan. 11, Scranton police were investigating two shootings that took place earlier that day, when a suspect was located and gunfire began, injuring Gilmartin and another unnamed victim. Gilmartin is currently in stable but critical condition.
To support Gilmartin’s family during this time, local service center Kost Tire & Auto Service will be donating $10 for every oil change performed between now and Valentine’s Day. The business raised over $1,000 within the fundraiser’s first two days and hopes to award the family up to tens of thousands of dollars by the end of the initiative.
“Overall, the community has gotten behind and has shown a great deal of support not only with our initiative but numerous initiatives that many other local organizations have put forth,” told Kost Tire & Auto Service’s Director of Public Relations Richard Suraci.
