TechSpec 2010 Cadillac SRX - July 2010

TechSpec: 2010 Cadillac SRX

Though it shares some components in common with its quasi-sibling Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain crossover kin, including the standard direct-injection 3.0L V6 engine, the 2010 Cadillac SRX is actually built on a unique platform that GM calls Theta Premium.

The second-generation SRX differs noticeably from the first-generation model, which was essentially a station wagon version of the CTS sedan. For starters, there is no V8 engine in the new SRX, replaced by the aforementioned 3.0L V6 (the standard powerplant) and a new 2.8L turbocharged V6 engine sourced from GM’s European models. Also gone is rear-wheel drive, replaced by the standard front-wheel or optional all-wheel drive.

The SRX is available in four trim levels: base, Luxury, Performance and Premium. Base models, which start at $33,830, are only available with front-wheel drive, the standard 3.0L V6 (which generates 265 horsepower and 223 pound-feet of torque) and a six-speed automatic transmission that is the sole transmission option throughout the SRX lineup.

SRX Luxury models start at $37,410 for front-wheel-drive models and $39,905 for all-wheel-drive models, and feature the 3.0L V6 engine, but with leather seats, remote start and wood trim. Like base models, Luxury models ride on 18-inch alloy wheels wearing 235/65R18 tires.

SRX Performance vehicles start at $41,850 for 3.0L V6 front-wheel-drive models or $45,495 for 3.0L V6 all-wheel-drive models. Also available is the 2.8L V6 Turbo model, which stickers for $49,315 and only comes as an all-wheel-drive model. The turbocharged V6 cranks out 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

Performance models of the SRX, whether equipped with the 3.0L or 2.8L turbo V6, feature a performance suspension system, navigation system, rear camera, HID headlights and 20-inch alloy wheels wearing 235/55R20 tires.

SRX Premium vehicles start at $44,395 for front-wheel-drive 3.0L V6 models and $48,040 for all-wheel-drive 3.0L V6 models; models with the 2.8L turbo engine start at $51,860. Premium models feature such amenities as heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, rear audio controls, rear climate control, etc., and ride on the same 20-inch wheel/tire combo as Performance models.

Selecting a Cadillac SRX 2.8L Turbo Premium model and ticking off options like roof rails, DVD entertainment system, etc. will get you a vehicle with a sticker north of $53,000.

Servicing the SRX
Like virtually all GM vehicles, the SRX is equipped with the company’s Engine Oil Life System (EOLS). This computer-based system monitors conditions like engine speed, ambient air temperature, engine temperature, etc. and calculates when expected oil life has diminished. GM cautions that the vehicle’s motor oil should be changed within 600 miles of being indicated by the EOLS.

Resetting the EOLS
1. Using the Driver Information Center (DIC) Menu button and thumbwheel on the turn signal lever, display “Oil Life Remaining” on the DIC.
2. Press the SET button to reset the oil life at 100 percent.
